How much does it cost to study in North Macedonia?
At university in North Macedonia, students will pay an application fee to apply of about 200 €. For undergraduate students, the cost of study is about 5000 € per year. Those working towards MSc and MA degrees will pay 8000 € per year. At the PhD level, costs range from 10,000 € up to 20,000 € annually. Most of the Government Universities don’t charge tuition fee & some charge as low as 500 Euro-1500 Euro Per semester - Private universities charge tuition fee from 7000 Euro – 10,000 Euro Per Year Very Low Tuition Fee.
Do I need a Student Visa for North Macedonia?
EU/EEA/Swiss citizens are not required to obtain a visa but need to register with the local authorities within 90 days of their arrival. Generally, all non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens must hold a student visa along with a residence permit. The visa has to be obtained before traveling to North Macedonia. Upon arrival in North Macedonia, you are able to apply for a residence permit.
About Republic of North Macedonia..
Republic of Macedonia is situated in Southeast Europe. It is bordered by five countries: Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania and Kosovo.
The total area of the Republic of Macedonia is 25.333 km2, it covers 477km2 of water area, and 24.856 km2 of land area, and the total number of inhabitants is 2.022.547.
The capital of the Republic of Macedonia is Skopje, with 506,926 inhabitants according to the 2002 census. Macedonian national currency is denar.

Food and drinks
In case students eat on their own choice, they can visit a range of restaurants or fast food facilities, and a single meal can cost from 1 to 5 euros.
Drinking water
Water is drinkable and of a high quality in the public water supply system throughout the country.
Accommodation
There are several accommodation options available for students – three dormitories, private housing possibilities, and when it comes to shorter stay, a hotel is an option. The hotel offer varies according to rank and price. The price per night in a hotel is between 50 and 100 euros. The dormitory prices (including meals) vary between 50 and 70 euros per month. The cost for renting a room in the private sector together with the overhead expenses is around 125 EUR per month.
Private Housing
Most of the international students will have to organize accommodation on their own, i.e. look for private rental accommodation. Rents vary greatly according to location, room size, facility etc. Overhead expenses are sometimes included in the price, and most often are paid by the consumer. Payment is usually expected at the beginning of the month, and rarely some landlords request payment for several months in advance.

Denar (MKD) is the currency in Republic of Macedonia. One EUR equals 61,0 MKD
Banks
Banks are generally open to the public between 8 am and 5 pm. You may change foreign currency in MKD at all banks. In money exchange offices, the exchange rate is somewhat more favorable and the service is generally faster. There are many such offices in the town and they are usually open between 8 am and 7 pm. On Saturdays the banks are open between 8 am and 12 noon.

ABOUT SKOPJE
Skopje is the capital of the Republic of North Macedonia and is an administrative, cultural, educational and scientific center. The city is located in the northern part of the country, and in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula. Macedonia is surrounded by five neighboring countries: Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Greece and Albania, so it is rightly said that Skopje is the crossroads of the Balkans.
Skopje offers excellent study opportunities for several reasons:
1. It is a symbol of quality in higher education in the region and home to various universities. The American University of Europe – FON is a leader in higher education that provides access to quality education and the opportunity to obtain internationally recognized degrees anywhere in the world.
2. It has a well-developed infrastructure and organized public transportation, which makes it quick and easy to reach any desired destination in the city. Skopje International Airport is only 34 kilometers away, which is connected to the capital by bus or taxi.
3. Skopje has a rich culture and history, making it interesting and attractive for everyone who wants to explore the city and experience its sights and traditions. The main symbol of Skopje is the Kale fortress, which offers a wonderful view of the entire city. In the immediate vicinity of Kale is the Old Skopje Bazaar, as a commercial and cultural-historical part of Skopje and one of the biggest landmarks. From the Old Bazaar, through the Stone Bridge, which connects the old and new parts of Skopje, you can reach the central city core, i.e. Macedonia Square, which is full of a large number of historical monuments.
4. Skopje has a rich developed nightlife, with many places for going out and cultural events. This creates an opportunity for socialization, fun and the development of interests and hobbies. The National Opera and Ballet, the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Macedonian National Theatre, the Cultural Information Center, MCC, the Museum of the City of Skopje or the Museum of Contemporary Art are just part of the list of cultural institutions that offer a rich and varied program that will satisfy everyone's taste.
5. Cost of living is affordable. Skopje is counted among the cheapest cities in Europe, with reasonable prices for accommodation, food and transport, which is of great importance for students with a limited budget.
6. The city has many parks and open places for relaxation and sports. Mountain Vodno has all the prerequisites for the development of recreational tourism, which enables hiking to the 1066 m high mountain. It has a path for walking, jogging or cycling. The Quay on the Vardar River, as well as the City Park, are also excellent places for various sports activities and relaxation.
7. Skopje is close to many other interesting places for tourism, which means that students can enjoy day trips or weekend trips to Mavrovo, national parks as Popova Shapka, Pelister or Galicica, as well as Lake Ohrid which is the largest and oldest natural lake in Europe. In addition to Lake Ohrid, it is interesting to visit the other two natural lakes, Lake Prespa and Lake Dojran.
8. Variety of job opportunities - Skopje has many job opportunities, which is of great importance for students who want to work while studying. Job opportunities vary from student jobs to jobs in various industries and large reputed domestic and international companies.
