The continuous development of informatics is driving profound changes in the way people live within the modern information society. This dynamic growth, coupled with the widespread application of informatics across various sectors, creates an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the field of computer science, capable of addressing the evolving challenges of the profession.

The Faculty of Informatics is dedicated to educating professionals who possess the knowledge, expertise, and professionalism required in the fields of computer engineering, software engineering, business informatics, and information education at the first cycle of studies. At the second cycle of studies, the faculty further specializes in computer engineering, software engineering, and business informatics.

The faculty’s mission is to foster a comprehensive educational and scientific environment, where high-quality, modern teaching is prioritized to prepare students for successful careers, postgraduate studies, and lifelong learning. The educational process integrates cutting-edge technology, offers practical experience, updates professional skills, and promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise with other professionals in the field.

The Faculty of Informatics at the American University of Europe-FON offers a comprehensive program that prepares informatics engineers through the first cycle of studies, with three primary specializations: Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Business Informatics, as well as graduates in Informatics Education. The curriculum follows a 4+1 model, with the first cycle consisting of four years of undergraduate studies. Specialization is achieved through the selection of elective course groups organized into modules, allowing students to tailor their education to their specific interests and disciplines. This flexible structure enables them to become experts in their chosen field of informatics.

Upon completion of the four-year program, students are awarded the title of Bachelor of Informatics Engineering or Bachelor of Informatics Education. The postgraduate (second cycle) studies span the fifth year and consist of specialized courses designed to prepare students for independent research in the field of computer science. Upon successful defense of their master’s thesis, students are awarded the title of Master of Informatics Sciences (for Software Engineering or Computer Engineering) or Master of Business Informatics, depending on their area of specialization.

Through additional initiatives such as the "Knowledge Factory" project, organized by AUE-FON, students gain valuable practical experience throughout their studies. This experience enhances their ability to transition seamlessly from academia to professional careers, where they can apply both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired during their education at the faculty.
