HISTORY

The University is an autonomous, private, non-profit institution dedicated to scientific research and higher education, established in 2003 as the Faculty of Social Sciences. The founder of the country’s first private university is Mr. Fiat Canoski, MA. In 2007, with the introduction of new academic fields, the institution evolved into the First Private University—FON.

As a result of significant growth and a strong demand for education, the American University of Europe – FON expanded beyond Skopje, opening three satellite campuses in Strumica, Gostivar, and Struga. The Struga campus remains operational to this day.

In 2020, to align with global trends in higher education and better meet the needs and interests of students, the institution underwent a rebranding and was renamed the American University of Europe – FON.

Over its 20 years of existence, the University has continually invested in its growth and development, understanding that investment in education drives innovation, creates new values, and plays a critical role in transformation.

Through these ongoing investments, the American University of Europe – FON has established world-class standards for academic development, stimulates competition, and contributes to shaping the job market.

As a leading institution in private higher education, the University offers programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with plans to introduce a third cycle of study in the near future. This allows students to learn from the best academic staff, both domestic and international.

Furthermore, the University combines knowledge, research, and practice, using a multidisciplinary approach that plays a strategic role in addressing the needs of entrepreneurship and preparing students for the global challenges of today.

Since its founding, more than 10,000 students have completed their higher education at our institution, earning degrees that are recognized both domestically and internationally. This accomplishment reflects the University’s dedication to providing high-quality education, verified by diplomas that hold equal value worldwide.
