VISIT OF THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN
STUDENTS FROM THE FACULTY OF LAW AND POLITICAL SCIENCES AND THE FACULTY OF DETECTIVES AND SECURITY AT AUE-FON VISITED THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN
The students from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Detectives and Security at the American University of Europe–FON, led by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Tatjana A. Baloska, and Prof. Dr. Jasmina Trajkoska Naumoska, visited the Office of the Ombudsman and learned about the role and competences of the Ombudsman in the protection and promotion of human rights, the procedure for submitting a complaint, the manner of handling the complaint, as well as the way in which a violation of a constitutional or legal right of citizens is determined.
During the meeting, there was discussion about the authorizations and measures that the Ombudsman undertakes in the direction of protecting and promoting human rights, the process of preparing the Annual Reports, as well as the effects of submitting the Annual Report of the Ombudsman to the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. The students were also informed about the other competences of the Ombudsman, such as his role as Amicus Curiae (Friend of the Court) and the Civil Control Mechanism, the National Preventive Mechanism, and his authority to provide oversight of institutions within the security and intelligence sector.
